Waka Waka... This time for Africa

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international association football tournament. It is being held in South Africa, beginning on 11 June and scheduled to conclude on 11 July 2010. The tournament is the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams.

This is the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation, after South Africa was selected over Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process. Italy is the defending champion, having won the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The draw for the finals took place on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Zakumi (born 16 June 1994 (1994-06-16) (age 16)) is the Official Mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He is a cheerful and sporty leopard with green hair, presented on 22 September 2008. His name comes from "ZA", the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for South Africa, and "kumi", a word that means ten in several African languages, referencing the year 2010.

The green and yellow (gold) colours of the character match the South Africa national football team's kit. The official motto of Zakumi is "Zakumi's game is Fair Play.". Zakumi dyed his hair green so that he would be camouflaged against the pitch.

The Adidas Jabulani is the official match ball for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The ball, created by sports manufacturer Adidas and was unveiled in Cape Town, South Africa on December 4, 2009. Jabulani  means "rejoice" in Zulu and is similar to "Jebulane".

The name of the ball inspired by the city of Johannesburg, which is often nicknamed Jo'burg and will be the site of the 2010 Final.
